I would like to support your quest to get Kunzle cakes returned to our shops. I can remember as a child the highlight of the weekly shopping trip with my parents was to go into the cafe for a cup of tea and a Kunzle cake. I am sure we were still enjoying them into the early seventies.

I so agree with your comments about Kunzle cakes. It’s years since I have thought or heard about them but it all came back to me in a rush when an elderly friend telephoned me just now and asked “what was a Kunzle cake”. They had apparently been mentioned on tv in Richard & Judy’s British Book Awards programme and my friend Dorothy, 84 yrs old, could not remember them. I am much younger but was quite surprised that I could describe them in detail - even down to licking the filling out of the chocolate shell! I typed Kunzle into my laptop and found your reference amongst many others. (Isn’t Google just wonderful!) Now. of course, I am suffering acute nostalgia and memories of childhood and I swear I can almost taste those delicious little cakes. Yes - Bring back the Showboats!!
(Does this make me a Blogger? I think I might sign up below because I’ve never blogged before!)

I well remember Kunzle Kakes. I played schoolboy cricket for a local club near the outskirts of liverpool and we always had a Kunzle cake with our tea during the break in Mathes. Scrumptious - I fancy one now and I`m 65. Patrick Myall
