I would like to support your quest to get Kunzle cakes returned to our shops. I can remember as a child the highlight of the weekly shopping trip with my parents was to go into the cafe for a cup of tea and a Kunzle cake. I am sure we were still enjoying them into the early seventies.

I so agree with your comments about Kunzle cakes. It’s years since I have thought or heard about them but it all came back to me in a rush when an elderly friend telephoned me just now and asked “what was a Kunzle cake”. They had apparently been mentioned on tv in Richard & Judy’s British Book Awards programme and my friend Dorothy, 84 yrs old, could not remember them. I am much younger but was quite surprised that I could describe them in detail – even down to licking the filling out of the chocolate shell! I typed Kunzle into my laptop and found your reference amongst many others. (Isn’t Google just wonderful!) Now. of course, I am suffering acute nostalgia and memories of childhood and I swear I can almost taste those delicious little cakes. Yes – Bring back the Showboats!!
(Does this make me a Blogger? I think I might sign up below because I’ve never blogged before!)

I well remember Kunzle Kakes. I played schoolboy cricket for a local club near the outskirts of liverpool and we always had a Kunzle cake with our tea during the break in Mathes. Scrumptious – I fancy one now and I`m 65. Patrick Myall

I used to LOVE Kunzle cakes. Used to get them in a pack of six I think. Different shapes

My parents adored these rich treats, as someone said, they were in half dozens, in different shapes. If they come back, they must be similar to the originals so that another generation can love them.
