I was too young to remember the name of these cakes, I just remember I loved them. I’ve been asking people for ages if they remembered them and what they were called. I could remember what they looked like but noting else, not even who made them. I recently googled all the cake manufacturers I could think of and bingo, I lucked out. I sincerely hope certain people take note of this site and bring them back.

I and my brother remember eating Kunzle cakes in the forties and fiftties when we lived in Barrow in Furness. Easily the best cakes I have ever tasted. If only we were able to buy them again you would be guaranteed two loyal customers.

I found your site because we were talking about how scrumptious Kunzle cakes were and I decided to do a Net search to see if they still existed anywhere! How sad that they don’t but I’m all for bringing them back!

We remember Kunzle cakes and they were FAB! What about Jap cakes? They are like Kunzle cakes and are delicious too. They only seem to sell them in Scotland, in Aviemore and nearby local bakers. We buy them when we visit our daughter, who lives there. We wish they made and sold them in England where we live as the’d be top of our shopping list!

Was alerted to your website by the webmaster of the J. Lyons & Co. website. I do not have any good images of Kunzle cakes and have only been able to identify this one. It appeared in the house journal Lyons Mail in August 1970. The journal at this time was a tabloid sized newspaper and the pictures were pretty awful. This might be better than nothing until you get something better. Best wishes with your endeavours.

Im voting “bring Kunzle cakes back” ive never had one, but my mum said” I’d love them,also that she could eat them til they came out of her ears”

I know only too well you find something you really like , then like a puff of smoke, they’re gone just like that ! there should be a law against it.

sometime ago Sarah Kennedy campaigned on her radio show to bring these cakes back. Waitrose started to sell them once again in certain stores. I dont know if they still do, but it might be worth getting in touch with them, I support your campaign as I too remember these delicious cakes from my childhood and would give anything to eat one again
