And seeing the ad at the end of your web page really made my mouth water. I am heartily behind your campaign to revive them as I would like my children to know and love them too!

I too have fond memories of Kunzle cakes
Why on earth were Kunzle Cakes taken out of production?
Why on earth were Kunzle Cakes taken out of production? They were a very special addition to a cup of tea (or coffee) in tea shops. I have referred to them often in nostalgic reminiscenses with friends and family. If there is any justice they will be brought back again before I become too old to appreciate them or before the nanny state bans such delights completely.I spent a week in Camber Sands in Sussex in the late sixties and every afternoon I drove to a little cafe in Winchelsea to have my fix of afternoon tea and cake. Kunzle of course. Ah, memories
Pity there is no easy way to register support with RHM
I have an idea that one supermarket brought them back in the 1990′s. I definitely read this in the newspapers at the time but it was one that doesn’t have stores in the North. What I recall (from the 1960′s) is that the chocolate was good and was thick.
It’s a pity there is no easy way to register support with RHM – looks like one has to write a letter
Hope it wasn’t the cakes that led to my visit to the dentist
I am 55 now and my late mother used to take me into a good quality coffee shop after I had been to the dentist for treatment -provided I had been a ‘brave boy’! She probably couldn’t really afford it, but she used to buy me real filter coffee and a Kunzle Cake of my choice! I shudder to think what they might cost now, if we saw them resurrected!I still talk about them to people – all of whom look at me blankly. But I say: ‘bring them back’. Unlike mother, I can probably afford to buy a box of them and so – hang the price and let’s have some again.
PS Hope it wasn’t the cakes that led to my visit to the dentist!!
Kunzle cakes – yes! bring them back!
I have just stumbled across your site while doing a search for Kunzle cakes, and it’s good to know I’m not the only one who has fond memories of the showboats. We used to buy them on holiday in Wales or the Lake District when I was a child and we always looked forward to eating them after a picnic. I wish you could still buy them as there is nothing quite like them and no other cake has yet matched up to them
Kunzle cakes were wonderful
kunzle cakes were wonderful. i remember them from the early 60′s. we used to
have them every sunday
I’ve been trying everywhere
A little help, if you could, please: I’ve been trying everywhere in my travels through London to buy Kunzle cakes for my wife, who loved them as a child. But it seems nobody stocks them any more, so I turned to the internet to do a little research and have found your website.
Can Kunzle cakes actually be bought anywhere in London now?
Thank you in anticipation for your help,
A very sad day for Britain
It was a very sad day for Britain when the sale of Kunzle Cakes was discontinued. I have failed to find anything which remotely compares with the delicious cakes enjoyed by families in my childhood. Sundays have never been the same. Please bring them back asap.
I do wish Kunzle Cakes were still available
I well remember the Kunzle cakes. They were always on sale in the cafeteria at the local dance hall in Sleaford Lincolnshire. The Corn Exchange-which was the dance hall in that town-was very popular in the 1950′s;all the teenagers from the villages around Sleaford used to decend on the town every Saturday Night for the weekly “hop”. The resident band was “The Billy Cowell Dance Band”.He was very well liked and people speak affectionately of him to this day.Apart from the weekly dance, during the year more specialised dances were held;such as The Farmers Ball,The Police Ball,The Hunt Ball and the Licence Victuallers Ball etc. On these occasions it was usual that one of the big bands of the day would be hired to play for the evening; Victor Sylvester,Ted Heath,Harry Gold to name but a few.
But there was always one thing we,who attended the dances, could be sure of and that was an abundance of Kunzle Cakes to choose from in the cafeteria! The price in those days was 6d. (six old pence) each and what value!! I do wish Kunzle Cakes were still available.
Regards,
A kunzle Fancier.
