Get Kunzle cakes returned to our shops

Filed under: Kunzle Cakes — Steve Guy @ 9:31 pm
I would like to support your quest to get Kunzle cakes returned to our shops. I can remember as a child the highlight of the weekly shopping trip with my parents was to go into the cafe for a cup of tea and a Kunzle cake. I am sure we were still enjoying them into the early seventies.

Would travel home for Kunzle cakes

Filed under: Kunzle Cakes — Steve Guy @ 3:57 pm
My Mum and I used to buy Kunzle cakes for special occasions. Any occasion could be a special occasion when Kunzle cakes were in the offering! “Hey! Today is Monday. That deserves a Kunzle cake.”

I know all my family would buy Kunzle cakes, if only to stop me going on about them.

(Currently exiled in Texas but would travel home for Kunzle cakes!)

Scoop out the filling with ones’ tongue

Filed under: Kunzle Cakes — Steve Guy @ 4:01 pm
At last, somebody else out there remembers them – I have memories of my grandmother buying them for us as a special treat in the mid sixties in Bedfordshire. The best way to eat them was to try and scoop out the filling with ones’ tongue, and leave the chocolate shell intact as long as possible. I definitely think that the children of today are missing the most exquisite form of tooth decay known to confectioners in the mid twentieth century! Bring back Showboats!

Whoopee, yes

I agree wholeheartedly. I’ve wondered for years where these gems disappeared and why. Perhaps some CJ clone ref Sunshine desserts of Regie Perrin fame thought they were no longer great super or smashing, which is exactly what they were. Also, far superior to much of the muck delivered us these days.

Have a heart chaps Lyon , get the stuff back on the shelves, they’re a winner. Believe me, I’m a consumer, or was until you did the dastardly.

I totally agree

I totally agree. Please bring back Kunzle Showboats. They are the only cakes I can remember from Sunday teas at my grannies when I was a child. I still miss them!
